Letter to the Editor
Friday 19th November 2004
Dear Sir,
Lib-Dem MEP Bill Newton Dunn has tabled a "Written Declaration" in the European parliament, pointing out that on the island of Manhattan, 83% of voters supported loser John Kerry in the recent Presidential election, and calling on New York to apply for membership of the European Union. It would be interesting to know what proportion of New Yorkers would vote to join the French.
In 2006, we expect a referendum in the UK on the EU Constitution, and most commentators expect a substantial NO vote. Applying Newton Dunn's impeccable logic, presumably he will then call for the UK to leave the EU.
Yours faithfully,
Roger Helmer MEP
Chris Heaton-Harris MEP
