New Website explains EU Constitution
Wednesday, 17th November 2004
A new web-site, www.euabc.com, offers a user-friendly version of the EU Constitution, with marginal notes explaining the point of each paragraph, and key words underlined for easy reference. The site is in English, but German and Danish versions are available and other languages will be added.
The site also offers a dictionary of EU jargon, together with a power-point presentation of key points of the Constitution. In addition, it offers links to the implications of the EU Constitution for more than 20 special interest areas, like education, agriculture, consumer protection, trade and intellectual property.
The site has the approval of campaigners from both sides of the EU debate, and presents unbiased information, not spin or propaganda.
Commenting on the new web-site, Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: "This is a timely development, as we expect a referendum on the Constitution within two years. I welcome this new site, because I believe that the more voters understand the full implications of the document, the more determined they will be to vote against it. It sets in stone all the current problems of the EU, while allowing unlimited further EU integration in the future. It passes huge new powers to Brussels. It has especially damaging implications for British business and jobs. I recommend everyone who cares about freedom and democracy to visit this site".
