Talking about Europe may be off the Conservative Party's agenda right now, but new reaches Spy of a Euro row that David Cameron could do without.
Momentum is growing behind a grassroots internet campaign to restore the Tory whip to East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer - who was thrown out of the party's group in Brussels last year for the robust way in which he attacked alleged corruption in the European Commission.
"By highlighting possible corruption, all Roger was doing was standing by a manifesto commitment," says Richard Hyslop, co-founder of www.reinstateroger.com
"Our campaign is attracting the support of hundreds of party members up and down the country, not to mention over 25 parliamentarians. What's more, since losing the whip, Rogerhas remained a loyal Conservative - unlike some other Tory MEPs, who have openly attacked the leadership of David Cameron and some of his policies."
