MEPs quiz Kinnock for Children in Need
Monday, 4 November 2002
East Midlands MEPs Chris Heaton-Harris and Roger Helmer will be testing their knowledge in a European Trivia Quiz in Brussels tonight in aid of Children in Need. The 2002 European Trivia Quiz organised and sponsored by Ernst & Young will see Neil Kinnock, European Commission Vice President, taking to the podium as Quizmaster for the night.
A new modification to the Quiz format allows teams to purchase questions to put to the Quizmaster. Local Euro-MP Chris Heaton-Harris, spokesman for the Conservative delegation on the Budgetary Control Committee, together with his colleague Roger Helmer MEP have submitted a contentious question asking Kinnock:
"Who signed off the Commission accounts for 2001?"
It remains to be seen if the question will be asked, and indeed if it is whether Neil Kinnock will take this opportunity to answer it.
The money raised from the Quiznight will be divided equally between the BBC TV "Children in Need Appeal" and "Europe’s Children – Our Concern".
