East Midlands MEPs welcome 2006 with New Year resolutions
As millions of people welcome in the New Year with celebrations across the UK, East Midlands Conservative MEPs Chris Heaton-Harris & Roger Helmer would like to wish all of their East Midlands constituents a Happy New Year and offer their best wishes for 2006.
Both MEPs also echoed Conservative Party leader David Cameron’s earlier comments that urged Conservatives to look forward to 2006 ‘confident in our values, clear about our direction, and optimistic about the future’.
Speaking today, Chris Heaton-Harris said: “We would like to wish everyone in the region a Happy New Year. We look forward to continuing to represent the East Midlands in Brussels, not Brussels in the East Midlands throughout 2006”
Roger Helmer added: “Following the overwhelming election of David Cameron as party leader, this is an exciting time to be a Conservative. I am looking forward to 2006 and the challenges it brings.”
For his new year’s resolutions at the start of 2006, Mr Heaton-Harris has set himself the tasks of getting fit by going to the gym and jogging regularly and also to make a note about the nicest person he has met every day.
