In a bid to raise the profile of the county as a tourist and business destination, "Experience Nottinghamshire", the county's Destination Management organisation, has launched a logo in the form of a bold letter "N".

Bassetlaw District Councillor Barry Bowles, in his capacity as a Board member of Experience Nottinghamshire, has created a striking lapel badge featuring the logo, and has successfully asked the county's business leaders to wear it in support of the campaign.

Now he has taken the campaign to Brussels, asking Nottinghamshire's MEP Roger Helmer to wear the badge in the European parliament, and on visits to the county.

Photographed wearing the lapel pin in his Brussels office, Helmer said: "I commend this initiative from Experience Nottinghamshire, and I am delighted to comply with Councillor Bowles' request.

Nottinghamshire, with its exceptional scenery, its historical and cultural associations, and its first class hotels and conference venues, has huge tourist potential.”

“The counties of the East Midlands, including Nottinghamshire, with their central location and excellent transport links, are a great place to do business. Let's make the most of them!"
