		Saturday, 10 May 2008 Welcome to my Website   Roger with euro-candidate Emma McClarkin and Conservative Home's   Tim Montgomerie at the Freedom Association's Inaugural Jefferson Lecture I hope you enjoy what you find here. It is not intended as an exhaustive information service about the EU. Rather, it's to give you pointers about my work here in the Parliament, what I'm up to in the constituency and my work with the regional press on local, national and international issues. I was first elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2004 as the local MEP for Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire. I stood on a Conservative platform to defend the national sovereignty of the UK and work for an EU of nation states, as opposed to the federal model that New Labour is pursuing. I also work to ensure that we in the East Midlands get the best we can from the EU in terms of funding and benefits.
